Continuing his strong mid-season form, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team’s Calvin Vlaanderen secured seventh overall at the MXGP of the Czech Republic. After falling twice and placing 11th in Race One, the South African rebounded with a determined ride to fifth in Race Two, earning a top-10 result.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team’s Calvin Vlaanderen has placed sixth overall at the MXGP of Great Britain. The event marked the 12th round of the 2025 MXGP World Championship, and Vlaanderen finished sixth in both races to underline his speed and consistency.

The 2025 MXGP World Championship reached its halfway point in Teutschenthal, Germany. For the third time this year, Vlaanderen secured a top-three finish with third in the opening race of the day. The result arguably came from the 28-year-old’s best ride of the season so far, as he crossed the line less than seven seconds behind eventual race winner Lucas Coenen.

Following his strong fifth-place finish at the previous round of the MXGP World Championship in Spain, Vlaanderen headed to Ernee in northern France focused on challenging for the top five. In Race One, the 28-year-old came close to his goal, finishing seventh. Then, in Race Two, Vlaanderen battled forward from a mid-pack start to cross the line in eighth for seventh overall. After a consistent day of racing, Vlaanderen remains eighth in the series standings.

The first race today was really muddy. Early on I was able to make a lot of quick passes but it was tough with the conditions. Race Two was a lot better though. My start was much better and then when Romain Febvre fell, I led for a few laps, which was nice. I settled into a solid pace and ended up third, so overall it’s been a positive weekend. The track was tricky but I felt good on the bike so now it’s on to France in a couple of weeks. — Calvin Vlaanderen

It’s been a positive weekend. I felt really good on the bike and it was a shame to crash in Race One while in sixth. That ruled out any chance of the podium really, but I still fought hard in Race Two and placed fourth. I was really happy with my riding in that one and kept my mistakes to a minimum, which is hard to do in a mud race like that. Today was OK. I didn’t get the results I wanted, but I had two consistent results. For today, we made some changes with the bike, and they made a positive difference on track. So, that’s good and there are a few other small things to work on between now and Portugal. — Calvin Vlaanderen
